About the event
Sounds for Ukraine is a Fundraising music concert that is providing financial aid for an educational theatre organisation NGO Molotok in Transcarpathia in Ukraine. Our team of professional pianists and amateurs will perform classical pieces by celebrated composers and their own compositions inspired by Ukrainian music. Performers will preface their musical numbers with reflections about war and peace, trauma and memory, empathy and activism.
Music has different effects - it brings pleasure and comfort, but it also disturbs and calls for action. It is an indirect form of communication, which allows us to embody emotions in the most precise and tangible way. Yet we would like to challenge the traditional format of a music concert, by giving a platform for musicians to verbalise a feeling they put in their music, reveal approaches and share insights which usually remain unseen to the viewer.
About NGO Molotok: After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation the organisation is sheltering and providing trauma work for the internally displaced people (mostly children). More information: Here
